About

I am a PhD candidate in Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley where I am advised by John Campbell and Alva Noë. Before that, I was an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania.

During the Spring 2019 semester, I was a visiting student at New York University under the supervision of Ned Block.

I work primarily in philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and race. My secondary interests include Arabic philosophy, metaphysics, and philosophy of language. My dissertation is on the recognition of people, places, and things.

As an Iraqi American, I have firsthand knowledge of the importance of improving equity and diversity within the discipline of philosophy. Recently, I have organized a syllabus diversification project within my department. You can find it here.
